Burgas to host Eurovision 2027

21-08-2026
Fact 4 min read

Burgas has officially been selected as the host city for the 71st Eurovision Song Contest. The semi-finals will take place on 11 and 13 May, with the final scheduled for 15 May 2027. Arena Burgas will be the main venue.

This is a historic event for Bulgaria: the country will host the contest for the first time following DARA’s victory with the song “Bangaranga” at Eurovision 2026 in Vienna.

As the contest organisers announced, the selection process considered more than the arena’s technical capabilities. Transport accessibility, hotel infrastructure, international connections and the municipality’s readiness to turn the contest into a major city-wide event also played an important role.

The short-term rental market reacted immediately

At the same time, we do not recommend basing an investment calculation solely on Eurovision. When choosing a property, it is still essential to consider the neighbourhood, liquidity, the condition of the property and the building, maintenance costs, transport accessibility and sustainable rental demand outside the dates of major events.

An additional period of increased demand

Eurovision will take place in May, before the traditional start of the busy summer season. For owners of flats and apartments in Burgas, as well as in nearby towns and resorts such as Pomorie, Sozopol, Nessebar and Sunny Beach, this could create an additional period of strong demand for short-term rentals.

Contestants, delegation members, organisers, journalists and Eurovision fans will travel to the region. In addition to the three televised shows, Burgas is planning a programme of cultural and entertainment events. As a result, demand for rental accommodation may increase not only in the city centre, but also in other districts of Burgas and in nearby coastal towns and resorts with convenient transport links.

However, the significance of the event extends beyond a single week. International broadcasts, the influx of visitors and attention from European media could strengthen Burgas’s status as a fully fledged year-round city — with the sea, developed infrastructure, and an active business and cultural life.

What this means for property buyers

Hosting the contest could become an additional factor enhancing the investment appeal of Burgas and nearby resorts. Major international events raise the region’s profile and support demand for short-term rentals outside the traditional summer season.
