Official President of the European Committee, after reviewing the written request of the Bulgarian government on the extension of the moratorium on the purchase of real estate in the country by foreign nationals, declined the request at the recent meeting. His refusal Chantal Hughes commented as following Bulgaria signed agreement at the time of its adoption by the European Union, which expires in early 2014.
The agreement provided for the introduction of the moratorium on sale of agricultural land Bulgaria persons with foreign citizenship in order to create the government of the country favorable conditions for the introduction of new laws on real property and preparing them for possible sale and rent. However, to extend the moratorium, as in the case of Romania, the European Commission considered it inappropriate.
