For the first 9 months of 2017 the demand for mortgage loans increased by 448% compared to the same period in 2016. A mortgage for the purchase of apartments in brick houses began to take by 26% more than the previous year, while the demand for housing in prefabricated houses remained at the same level as last year.
According to the analysis of the PostBank, during the reporting period the loan was requested an average of 22 years with an average amount of 51 thousand euros. Compared to the same period in 2016, the average value of mortgage loans increased by 14%. Among the borrowers, men made up 63% and women 37%.
The demand for mortgage loans in major cities of Bulgaria – Sofia, Varna, Bourgas, Plovdiv and Stara Zagora have increased by more than 10%. In Blagoevgrad, Dobrich and Veliko Tarnovo marked increase in demand for more than 2 times per annum.
The increase in popularity of mortgage loans, experts associated with two factors. First, the improvement of macroeconomic indicators – GDP growth, reduce unemployment, increase real incomes. Secondly, a significant role is played by the decline in mortgage rates, which in August reached a record low of 3.9% per annum.
