Bulgaria ranked 38th in the ease of doing business ranking published by the World Bank, down two positions from the previous year.
The ranking assesses how favourable an economy is for doing business. It considers 10 criteria: the business environment, ease of obtaining construction permits, registering property, access to electricity, availability of credit, protection of minority investors, taxation, international trade, enforcing contracts and resolving insolvency.
Bulgaria received its best result for protecting minority investors, at 14 points, and its weakest result for access to electricity, at 100 points.
Singapore topped the business ranking, Eritrea was last, and Russia placed 51st.
