Passport control at air and sea borders will be canceled from March 31. Bulgarian citizens will no longer stand in queues of European countries to check their passports when traveling by air and sea.

The land borders are still in force. The issue of their cancellation will be discussed during the year.

According to forecasts, joining the Schengen area will have a positive impact on the economy, business and image of Bulgaria. This innovation also makes it easier to visit the country, but not for Russians.

Now their stay in Bulgaria will be counted for the days spent in the Schengen area. In addition, when obtaining a Bulgarian visa, Russians will have to submit biometrics.

Experts expect the number of applicants to increase get a residence permit in Bulgaria.
