Despite a late start to the 2016 seaside season caused by cold weather in May, experts expect more tourists at Bulgaria's northern seaside resorts than last year. Visitor numbers are forecast to rise by 5–7% this season.
Bookings for July and August support these optimistic forecasts. The region's best hotels already have no rooms available for the peak of the 2016 season.
Russian visitor numbers will also rise this year. After Turkey and Egypt were withdrawn as destinations, Bulgaria entered Russians' five most popular holiday destinations, behind only Cyprus, Greece, Tunisia and Russia's Black Sea resorts.
