More than 20 countries of the world has a successful experience of attracting direct foreign investment through special programmes to provide investors with citizenship or permanent residence. For example, more than two years in Spain has a law on granting a residence permit to persons acquiring property from €500 000. Among the more than 850 foreign investors to obtain the "Golden visa", about 39% of citizens of the Russian Federation.
But in Portugal recently passed a law to reduce the minimum investment threshold for obtaining a "Golden visa" with €500 000 to €250 000.
