Bulgarian central bank deputy governor Kalin Hristov said that interest rates on bank deposits would fall by the end of the current year. A similar trend would also be seen in the lending market.
According to Kalin Hristov, the main reason for declining interest rates is the European Central Bank’s monetary policy, rather than a deteriorating situation within Bulgaria. The central bank representative stressed that returns on deposits at commercial banks should be expected to fall further in 2016.
Experts agree that the downward trend in deposit returns, together with lower lending rates, will stimulate domestic demand for Bulgarian property.
