According to the European statistical Agency, Eurostat, property prices in Bulgaria increased by 17.15% for the period from 2010 to 2019, which exceeded the average level in the Euro area.
From 2014 to 2018 secondary properties grew faster than new. During this period, the prices of Bulgarian "secondary housing" increased by 5.4%, new property rose by 5%.
After the crisis of 2008 price bubble burst, the market has returned to growth after 6 years. In 2014, prices have grown by 1.4%, in 2015 – by 2.8%. The following 2 years, growth accelerated and amounted to 7% and 8.7%, respectively. Housing prices in Bulgaria to 2018 grew by 6.6%.
For comparison, in EU countries, the rising cost of residential squares in the period under review amounted to 15%, in a zone of the Schengen area – 11%. The largest increase achieved in Estonia (83%), Latvia (61%), Austria (56%), Sweden (55%), Luxembourg (50%), the biggest drop in Italy (-17%), Spain (-12%), Cyprus (-8%).
