The relevant Russian and Bulgarian ministries introduced measures to streamline Bulgarian visa issuance for Russian citizens. Processing time has now been reduced to 48 hours, Tourism Minister Angelkova told a conference on developing Bulgaria's tourism industry.
The parties also agreed simplified registration rules for charter flights. Throughout the 2016 tourism season until the end of October, charter flights will operate without prior approval.
Analysts believe these measures, together with Russian tourists' move away from Turkey and Egypt, will substantially increase Russian visitor numbers at Bulgarian resorts.
