From Moscow, St. Petersburg and other large Russian cities there are regular flights to all cities of Bulgaria. For example, from the Russian capital in the peak tourist season there are daily flights to Varna, Burgas and Sofia from the airports Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo. Flights are serviced by “Aeroflot”, “Bulgarian Air”, “Yamal”, etc.

River and sea transport

While in Bulgaria there are all the prerequisites for the development of waterway passenger transport, it is still not well developed. River navigation, especially tourist-oriented, has great potential for development. At the moment the communication is made only with neighbouring Romania - ferries on the Danube run regularly in both directions.

Sea passenger transportation is carried out from two major ports in Varna and Burgas. With the release of the marble and the Mediterranean sea, the development of marine tourism transport looks very promising.

Rail transport

Railway transport is quite developed on the territory of Bulgaria. There are one-way, two-way andsacranie railway line. Links by rail from Greece, Turkey, Serbia and Romania. Also through the country almost every day there is a transit trains from Vienna, Berlin, Budapest.

Major train stations are located in the following cities:

  • Sofia;
  • Veliko Tarnovo;
  • Plovdiv;
  • Burgas;
  • Varna.

On the territory of Bulgaria is quite convenient to travel by high-speed trains that allows you to quickly reach the destination. For example, the distance from Plovdiv to Sofia speed overcomes 2 hours. Network rail-roads 9 presents the main directions:

  • Sofia-Plovdiv-Svilengrad;
  • Sofia-Varna;
  • Eliance-Varna;
  • Ruse-Gorna Oryahovitsa-Horseshoe;
  • Sofia-Kulata;
  • Voluyak-Gueshevo;
  • Mezdra-Ruska Byala;
  • Plovdiv-Burgas;
  • Ruse-Kaspichan.

For Russians who are planning to purchase a cozy property in Bulgaria, and prefer traveling by train, a regular train from Moscow to Sofia, via Ukraine, Moldova and Romania. Exact details of the timetable for this area can be found at the official website of Russian Railways.

Public transport

Buses and taxis

This is the most advanced and the most convenient form of transport on the territory of Bulgaria. In most cities it operates from 5:30 to 23:00. The average fare on the bus to 0.6 leva (about 13 rubles), in the taxi - 1,5 leva (about 32 rubles). Passengers objecive driver.

Trolleybuses, trams, metro

Here also developed trolleybus and tram. In Sofia metro operates. In Bulgaria there is a single price for a ticket, regardless of the type of public transport. In Sofia, it is 1 Lev (about 23 rubles).

Taxi

In major cities and resorts taxi is available at the special Parking lot. These cars are painted in yellow so they are easy to find tourists. Rates for taxi are different depending on the time of day. The average fare is 0.3 Euro per kilometer.
