Every year Bulgaria is visited by more tourists. Was no exception and 2017. According to the Minister of tourism, Nikolina Angelkova, last year Bulgaria was visited 8,882 million foreign tourists. This is 7.6% higher than in 2016.
At the same time, revenues from international tourism during the period under review increased by 9.3% in annual terms. So, last year the Bulgarian tourism sector earned almost 3.5 billion euros. According to Angelkova, the annual growth of tourist flows in Bulgaria exceeds the average EU level.
As noted by Ms. Angelkova, the Ministry of tourism is implementing two projects that will help to attract even more foreign visitors. The projects developed new tourist destination on the basis of a survey of 50 representatives of Bulgarian municipalities.
The Ministry of tourism in partnership with the Ministry of agriculture is developing 12 new destinations for wine tourism.
