Rostourism head Oleg Safonov announced Bulgaria’s plans to reduce the cost of a visa for Russian tourists to €10. According to the head of Russia’s tourism agency, in 2016 Bulgaria intends to issue free visas to children under 16 and other categories of citizens, and to waive fingerprint collection for Russians. The collection of biometric data is to be reconsidered in a year.
During forthcoming hearings in Russia’s State Duma, Bulgarian Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova is expected to speak about promoting year-round tourism in Bulgaria. In her address, she will explain in detail the planned easing of visa procedures for Russians. A press release on the Bulgarian tourism ministry’s website emphasises that this is the first visit by an official of this rank to the Russian State Duma in 27 years.
