Bulgaria is taking further steps to create favourable conditions for the return of Russian visitors, whose numbers fell significantly in 2015 against the backdrop of the political and economic situation at home. These steps include easing visa requirements, issuing free visas to certain categories of citizens and simplifying the application procedure for the entry document. For example, children travelling to Bulgaria to take part in festivals will be eligible for free visas, with people with disabilities and pensioners expected to follow in the near future.
According to Bulgarian Tourism Minister Nikolina Angelkova, “Bulgaria will try to do everything possible to bring Russian tourists back.” The minister noted that Bulgaria is ready to offer many types of tourism and create comfortable conditions for Russian visitors to enjoy a fulfilling holiday.
