Bulgarian citizens have found it easier to buy property in the country despite rising prices. This follows a statement by Kaloyan Bogdanov, a representative of the Address agency, reported by the Russian Bulgaria news portal. The expert said that a 60-square-metre apartment costs the equivalent of 60 average salaries in the country. By comparison, the same purchase required 65 salaries two years earlier and 63 in 2014.
In 2015, demand for investment property rose by 21%, against the backdrop of falling interest rates at Bulgarian banks and people’s search for alternative ways to invest their money. Demand increased despite higher average prices in Bulgaria’s major cities, with rises of 10% in Sofia and more than 5% in Varna, for example.
