According to Rumen Draganov, head of the Institute for Analysis and Assessment in Tourism, Bulgarian resorts will welcome 1.7-1.8 million foreign tourists during the winter.
The institute's head noted that Bulgarian ski resorts expect 340 thousand holidaymakers, while the remaining foreign visitors will come for spa treatment, cultural sightseeing and festive events.
The most popular spa resorts are Sandanski, Hisarya, Kyustendil, Pomorie and Velingrad. Among 36 ski resorts, tourists prefer Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo.
