A treatment plant has been commissioned in Sozopol after 11 years of construction and around 30 years since design work began. The facilities cost the state €36 million.
The modern wastewater treatment plant is one of a series of projects to improve environmental conditions at Bulgaria’s Black Sea resorts. Modernised facilities in Ravda are due to open in October, with another 5 stations planned by year-end. Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said €250 million had been spent on these purposes in Burgas Province alone.
New and renovated treatment plants, alongside investment in resort infrastructure and new roads, are government priorities for strengthening Bulgaria’s competitiveness in global tourism. These efforts should increase the appeal of investing in property in Sozopol and other seaside resorts.
