After a five-year interruption, the consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Ural Federal District has resumed its work. According to Bulgaria’s ambassador to Russia, this is a significant event for residents of the Urals, who will no longer have to travel to Moscow to obtain a Bulgarian visa. The consulate will serve residents of the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk and Kurgan regions, providing a full range of consular services.
Sverdlovsk Region Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev stressed the importance of the event, saying: “This is a significant moment for all of us. (...) I am confident that mutual exchange will greatly benefit the development of bilateral relations.”
The opening of the consulate in the Sverdlovsk region is another step by the Bulgarian government towards restoring tourist flows from Russia. This measure, together with the easing of visa requirements, is expected to lead to an increase in tourists from the Urals visiting Bulgarian resorts.
